"Not worth the money. The trap is flimsy and difficult to set up. There is a flimsy catch to keep the lid (opening) of the trap open and if knocked falls down far too easily. Very awkward. Would not buy this product again and would not recommend."

"It is very difficult to set the trap. To put the bait on the plate, put it on the ground and then set the trigger is quite a task. The trigger setting is very sensitive."

"The trap does not work. The rodent is fortunately not in the house - it visits our garden. It has been in the trap and has taken the bait but has somehow managed to get out of the trap. We have tried various methods, e.g. tying the bait to the cage itself, putting the bait behind the trigger platform and sticking the bait on to the platform so it can't be removed, only to discover that the bait has been nibbled at insitu, the trap door has triggered and is down but the rat is not inside the trap. We can only assume that when the rat enters the trap, it's tail does not go all the way inside and so when the door drops, the rat can manoevre itself, using it's tail as a lever to exit the trap backwards leaving the door to drop behind it. As we live in the countryside, we wanted to catch the rat live and take it a few miles away from our house and release it in fields far enough away. The humane rat cage trap is a complete waste of time and money in our opinion."

"These traps are structurely well made but the design is so what different, very poor indeed, I purchased 3 traps as I am in rural area and have a rat problem due to kindly neighbours feeding chunks of bread out to the birds and also drawing rats which in turn draw them to my chicken feeder. I have set all 3 traps every evening for 5 days only to have bait stolen and cage door shut. I have contacted Primrose to return items as unfit for purpose and fair play they agreed but having checked postage cost I would only receive 50% of purchase cost so have not bothered. Very disappointed, the closure system om these traps need some serious consideration."

"Rat trap set every night mice get in and take the food sometimes trap has gone off with no rat inside. Dissappointed we cannot seem to get this trap to work for rats."

"Had the trap 2 weeks - the rat's been in, had the bait, and been able to get out again. Just this morning found the trap sprung, the bait eaten and the cage empty! Still, for under a tenner, it was worth a try."

"Decided not to use trap as there was insufficient information regarding the welfare of the rodent. I understand rats dehydrate very quickly and that traps should be checked hourly, something i was unable to do. I took other measures - removed food source, filled in holes to home and purchased an ultrasonic thing. This appears to be working so trap redundant. :)"

"The product promption was fair enough, delivery was excellent but sadly the product itself just doesn't work. I set the traps and tried many different techniquest to make sure the trap shut when the rodent stepped on the plate but every time I set the bait the rats simply scoffed the grub and scarpered. On one occasion the trap did shuta and the bait was gone but so was the rodent. I gave up in the end - enticing the rodent with food just seems like a really bad idea - you just encourage them to visit you. Going to try a preventive solution to kepp the blighters out in the 1st place. Sorry but the product just doesn't do the job"

"I purchased two rat cage traps & to be honest they are poor to say the least. On one, the internal trigger mechanism is stiff and on the other it's too sensitive. Rats have been taking the bait but we haven't managed to trap one yet. Could do with a full refund as they are 'not fit for purpose'. I'll only use Primrose again if a goodwill gesture comes our way, £20 would get me to shop again with Primrose. Very dissapointed."

"I have followed the enclosed instructions and neither of the 2 units purchased will work Either I have been sold two defective traps or there is some secret procedure to set up the traps not explained in the instructions On both units the trapdoor refuses to close completely when activated so making the traps completely useless except as a rat nest. My overall rating -1 (useless) Advise please?"
